Yamnuska Backcountry Kitchen’s Harira Stew with Lamb is designed as a traditional Moroccan dish.

This is the second lamb dish on our menu and another welcome change in flavours from typical backcountry selections found in most shops. This dinner is a great choice for adding variety to multi-day menus and it is the perfect main attraction on a one or two night adventure.

Instant brown rice is included in the package. We like to top this dinner fresh off the stove with slivered almonds and sliced dried apricots.

A surprise hit when first introduced on our menu and it’s still popular today. Moroccan food is full of aromatic spices and vegetables and this entrée honours that tradition. You will be back for more!

Suggestions for Serving our Harira Stew

  • Serve over instant rice (included).
  • Top with slivered almonds and sliced dried apricots (not included)

Preparation Instructions for 1 package of Hariria Stew Dehydrated Dinner

Keeping hydrated is even more critical when you consume foods that have had their moisture removed to keep from spoiling outside of the fridge and freezer. Proper re-hydration prior to consumption is very important. In high impact or long endurance activities, keeping your body properly hydrated is challenging and can on its own create issues with energy levels, strength and concentration. We have some tips for staying hydrated in the backcountry.

  • Mix contents of package and 650ml of water in a 1 L pot.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Cover, turn off heat, and let stand 15 minutes or longer.
  • Return the mixture to boil,
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes. Times vary depending on altitude and temperature.
  • Continue to rehydrate until the desired texture is achieved.
  • Season to your personal taste & serve.
